Nike first conceptualized the idea for mechanical cushioning, in 1984 when then AF1 designer Bruce Kilgore started tinkering with the thought of adding loaded springs into a shoe for added propulsion and energy return. Never quite flushed out, it wasn't until Eric Avar in 1997 that Nike Shox became a reality. The Shox TL debuted in 2003, and still to this day remains one of the most provocative silhouettes in the catalog of Nike Running. Releasing in tonal black, the latest colorway gives the avant-garde silhouette a chic fashionable look.
