Midwest R&D: Case Study #4

Midwest R&D by Xhibition — a platform dedicated to developing, creating, and styling that resonates with the cultural trends of the Midwest. Merges local inspiration with innovative fashion, offering a perspective that embodies the spirit and diversity of the region.

For almost the past 100 years, Severance Hall has been the home of The Cleveland Orchestra. When it’s not hosting one of the greatest orchestras in the world, this art deco gem anchors East Side’s University Circle through its blend of function and beauty.

A part of the art deco aesthetic is rooted in combining global influences — African, Egyptian, and Asian — into a modern design language. New Delhi’s Kartik Research does likewise. Drawing from India’s textile heritage to create apparel that bridges traditional and contemporary. And just as the pleats in Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, which merge practicality with elegance, these designs go beyond the ordinary.

More than just physical spaces and fashion; these brands and institutions are symbols of rich heritage and pillars of an artistic landscape.
